This day was celebrated with the coordination
with National center of AIDS and STD control.
WOREC took part in rally to create awareness
among people regarding HIV and AIDS. The rally
consisted of participation of thousands of people
and organizations working against this common
endeavour. There was a huge participation of
people living with Hiv/AIDS, the vulnerable groups
like men having sex with men, injecting drug
users, the female sex workers etc. It was a platform
for those groups like men having sex with men
to come in the fore front of society. Till now,
these issues had been very much hidden and in
Nepal homosexual is considered to be something
very abnormal. Since Blue diamond society was
established, it claimed the existence of more
than 10,000 homosexuals. These issues are still
taboos in Nepali context. People seemed very
interested and wanted to know who were they and
why were they dressing like women being men.
Some of the participants were carrying effigies
of dead bodies, which was the indication of upcoming
deaths of people living with Hiv and AIDS if
the state being irresponsible to supply the necessary
dose of Anti retro viral therapy (ARV) treatment
in Nepal.
The rally then turned into assembly at Pradharshani
Marg, circling major areas of valley. In Pradarshani
Marg, at Bhrikuti Mandap, there were different
arrangements. Those arrangements were stalls,
speeches by various delegates, cultural shows,
folk music etc. The speakers were Dr. Ram Prashad,
director of National center for AIDS and STD
control, Honorable health minister, Mr. Ashok
Rai, the country director of UNAIDS, the People
living with HIV/AIDS etc.

at Bhrikuti Mandap. In the stall, WOREC team
managed to distribute the publications and sold
some income generating goods like sweater, socks,
pencil cases etc.
Similarly, WOREC team participated in a seminar on ART treatment in
Nepal at
Hotel Yak and Yeti on December 2nd. The seminar mainly focussed on the Anti
Retro Viral Therapy Treatment, its issues and endeavor. There were various
presentations by several delegates, which focussed the issues of ART in the
context of Nepal. Several presenters included the representative from FHI,
Nava Kiran plus, the director, NCASC etc. All the speakers univocally voiced
